A procedure, and home the same day

Even a minor procedure can raise big questions. Will it hurt? How should I prepare? Will I be home by evening? We want you to know what to expect before the procedure and to have the chance to talk through your concerns.

Same-day surgery makes it possible to perform selected procedures without a hospital stay of several days. After the procedure, you remain under observation for as long as necessary. If your recovery goes well and you meet the conditions for safe discharge, you can go home the same day. However, the exact time you will go home cannot be promised in advance.

Where the procedure will take place

We perform some minor procedures under local anesthesia directly at G‑Innova. Procedures that require general anesthesia, sedation or more extensive monitoring are carried out at partner clinical facilities with the necessary resources.

Our doctors personally perform selected procedures at ISCARE, Roudnice nad Labem Hospital and Brandýs nad Labem Hospital. We will agree on the specific location with you based on the procedure, your health and the facility’s capabilities.

Which procedures may be an option

Depending on the situation, procedures that can be performed on an outpatient or same-day basis include, for example, a cervical biopsy, conization, hysteroscopy, sampling of the uterine lining or minor procedures on the external genitalia. Some esthetic gynecology procedures can be performed in a similar way.

Hysteroscopy makes it possible to examine the uterine cavity using a thin scope. Conization removes a selected part of the cervix. If we recommend a procedure, we will explain its purpose, possible alternatives and why it is right for you.

We will go through the preparation in advance

Depending on the procedure and the type of anesthesia, you will receive instructions about any necessary tests and fasting. Tell us about the medications you take, any allergies and previous experiences with anesthesia. Do not stop any medication on your own, including medications that affect blood clotting.

Options include local anesthesia, sedation or brief general anesthesia. The doctor, sometimes together with an anesthesiologist, chooses the right approach based on the procedure and your health.

Every procedure also has its risks, such as bleeding, infection, tissue injury or an anesthesia complication. We will explain the specific risks before you give your consent.

Going home and the days that follow

After general anesthesia or sedation, you need someone to accompany you home and an adult available for the following 24 hours. For at least 24 hours, do not drive, drink alcohol or make important decisions; also follow the facility’s specific instructions.

Before discharge, you will receive information about common symptoms after the procedure, hygiene, physical activity, intimate life and the date of your follow-up. If we remove tissue, we send it for laboratory examination and then discuss the result with you.

When to seek help after the procedure

Heavy or increasing bleeding, significant pain, fever, foul-smelling discharge or repeated vomiting need medical assessment. If you faint, have shortness of breath or chest pain, or your condition rapidly worsens, seek urgent help.

Before you leave, make sure you know whom to contact if problems arise at home. It is important to have this contact at hand.
