Surgical care at ISCARE Clinical Center

From your examination at G‑Innova to your post-operative check-up

When you’re facing surgery, it helps to know who will examine you, who will operate and where you’ll go for your check-up. For selected procedures, care at G‑Innova continues with surgery at ISCARE Clinical Center.

Before the procedure, you’ll be examined in our clinic by Assoc. Prof. Otčenášek or Dr. Lincová. The doctor will discuss the recommended procedure with you, including its benefits, alternatives and risks. With care arranged in this way, the same doctor then operates on you at ISCARE and also provides your check-up after you return home.

Admission day

You usually arrive at ISCARE on the morning of your surgery. You’ll receive the exact time and place of admission in advance, together with instructions on how to prepare. Follow them for taking your medications and fasting as well; don’t change your treatment on your own.

After admission, you’ll get ready on the ward and talk with the anesthesiologist. How long the operation takes depends on its type and extent. If you have any questions or concerns, tell the medical staff before the procedure.

After surgery

Immediately after the procedure, you’ll be monitored in the recovery room and, depending on your condition, return to the ward. After some pelvic floor operations, a urinary catheter may be placed temporarily and vaginal packing left in place. The staff will explain what they are for and when they will be removed.

Before discharge, staff also check that you are able to urinate properly again. Smaller procedures may require a one-night stay, more extensive operations several nights. We’ll discuss the expected length of stay with you in advance, but the final decision depends on your recovery.

Going home

In the first days and weeks, you’ll usually need to take things easier and avoid significant physical exertion. The extent of the restrictions depends on the operation. After some pelvic floor procedures, it is recommended to avoid intercourse, bathing and strenuous sport for about six weeks; your discharge instructions are what count.

We’ll also discuss sick leave and a gradual return to physical activity. This depends on the kind of work you do and how your healing progresses, so recommendations may vary.

The check-up at G‑Innova is usually scheduled about two weeks after the procedure and is carried out by your surgeon. They will assess how you are healing and agree on the next steps, which may include pelvic floor rehabilitation.

If you have a fever, increasing pain, heavy bleeding or difficulty urinating, get in touch sooner. If you can’t urinate at all, you need to be examined without delay. If you experience sudden shortness of breath, chest pain or fainting, seek emergency help.

Payment and possible fees

For insured patients, medical procedures are covered by health insurance companies. ISCARE charges only a small fee per night for the hospital bed. We’ll explain any charges for your stay or additional services in advance. Confirm the current terms and amount before admission so you know what to expect.
